Many stakeholders throughout the Rockford region who are responsible for transportation advocacy and projects were in attendance, including Patrick Zuroske, Capital Planning Manager for the City of Rockford, Bob O’Brien, Executive Director of the Chicago Rockford International Airport, Sue Mroz, Economic Development Director for Winnebago County, and Rick McVinnie, Executive Director of the Rockford Mass Transit District. During the meeting, each attendee gave a status update on their respective projects and plans.

In addition, the group had a good question and answer session with Representative Jefferson regarding the Illinois Capital Program, and in turn he shared his thoughts about the program passing the Illinois General Assembly. During this meeting, I took the opportunity to briefly meet with Katie Langenfeld, Representative Jefferson’s Legislative & Community Outreach Coordinator, to discuss with her in more detail the role of RMAP as an MPO (Metropolitan Planning Organization) and to discuss RMAP’s mission. We met later in the week to exchange written material, leading to a better understanding between RMAP and one of Rockford’s key liaisons to Springfield.
